Find out about the new reporting template added to KAMAR, and how to use it

The Ministry of Education has released their guidance to schools, including their new Progress Descriptors for Reading, Writing and Maths. The aim is to have "clear and consistent reporting across the country". They have stipulated that all school reports need to include four common components:

  • Progress Descriptors for Reading, Writing and Maths, both as an overall informed decision and by strand. There are five descriptors: Emerging, Developing, Consolidating, Proficient and Exceeding.
  • A visual representation of progress over time.
  • A narrative (ie, a comment) about how/why progress descriptors were selected.
  • An indication of attendance.

To help schools make immediate use of these descriptors, we have developed two report templates for use in your progress reports:

  • A "report information" page that describes the Progress Descriptors for caregivers.

  • A "subject" page that can be used for Reading, Writing and Maths.

To make this page work, we've created a new assessment template that you can use to record teacher judgements twice a year.

Here's what the teachers would see in their markbooks:

These new report templates and the assessment template will be included in the January Update.
