I was introduced to KAMAR in July 2007 after having worked in other environments. What struck me immediately was the ease of use for users, and the reliability of the database. I quickly discovered that KAMAR has the potential to be highly customised, and I have spent a lot of time looking at the potential advantages of this customisation. With the recent release of later versions, KAMAR offers customisation in many areas including user-defined Lists, Reports and Awards. As very few restrictions are in place in these areas, users can write code to achieve virtually any task, including automated emailings, exporting and importing of data and linking to custom databases that are separate from KAMAR, but use the same data. At the same time, the standard features for typical users are easy to use, and rely on very little training. KAMAR is a reliable programme, backed up with excellent helpdesk support and a team of developers that listen to feedback and strive on improving the product for end-users.

A Data Managers perspective: our college is complex. Essentially several schools combined - Primary, Junior Secondary, Senior Secondary and a year 1-8 campus in Rotorua with mixed level classes. This provides significant challenges for any student management system. KAMAR as an SMS has coped with these challenges. Nothing is perfect in iT, and that is true of KAMAR and every other SMS, but what I have observed with KAMAR is a team dedicated to continual improvement and willing to listen. I have been impressed with KAMAR’s reliability and lack of bugs… this being a significant departure from those issues in our previous SMS. KAMAR is more than just a mobile app, a student management system and web portal. It is an organization that provides outstanding support to those using these KAMAR products. I enjoy working in KAMAR, the entering of students’ details is easy as the details tab follows a logical pattern. Being able to upload MOE Returns and surveys direct to the Ministry is great. As a database system I have found it to be reliable, also it’s easy to train new staff members on how to negotiate their way around the different areas. When I do encounter a problem or not sure on what to do I have found that the support from the KAMAR Helpdesk staff to be both friendly and of a high standard.

I have been a user of KAMAR since 2006, and have seen a lot of improvement in both the interface and functionality. The variety of support to schools is generous - online manuals are very helpful and provide easy-to-follow ‘how to’ instructions, while the online chat gives you one-on-one assistance for those quick queries. The helpdesk support is excellent, and I like the willingness of the friendly staff to remote into my computer and provide much needed assistance. Online remote training is fantastic for providing that one-on-one training, targeting you and your school’s specific requirements. The SMS has come a long way over the years - I am excited about the ‘new look’ KAMAR later this year, and look forward to exploring it in depth.

We have been using KAMAR since 2006, therefore I feel we have grown up along side it. There have been enormous changes since those early days. They are local, they are friendly and they listen. They keep users up to date with updates and changes. The database is easy to navigate and very user friendly. KAMAR provides all levels of user access - from the basic to the advanced. I'm really happy with KAMAR. It is astoundingly straightforward. I find the booking system for computer rooms easy to use. Very impressed. Great - user friendly. Really easy to use and especially good to be able to work from home. Really good for the roll and for being able to access so much information about the students. KAMAR is easy to use and seems to be very stable - a big bonus for such a large data base. Full marks for the design. Nice, easy to use interface and logical links in the database. Good colour scheme. An excellent package which is very easy to use. The stability, reliability and ease of use that KAMAR offers sets it above the other SMS systems. It is superbly designed, by a teacher, for teachers to use.

This system is every Principal's dream. Within seconds I can have in front of me all of the information I need when talking to parents about their son or daughter. This means that I can discuss the concerns that any parent might have with a student's full record, academic and pastoral, in front of me without having to postpone the call while I gather information from the usual range of sources. Having spent a lot of time using other student databases, marks and reporting systems, it was a refreshing change to come to Mount Maunganui College and to be introduced to a system that is intuitive to use, user friendly for staff and provides all of the information I require at the push of a button. KAMAR is an efficient, foolproof system that has found favour even with our least IT literate staff members.
